Mission Statement

The mission of the Child Formation Program at Our Lady of Grace Church is to work in partnership with parents to provide comprehensive instruction in the teachings of the Church for children through Grade Nine.  The program will promote an environment that encourages growth in relationships with Christ, family and peers.  To that end, the program will recruit, train and support committed catechists, and will work in concert with the religious education curriculum offered by our parish school.

Sunday School (ages 3, 4 and 5)

Program Age Group:
Our Lady of Grace offers Sunday School for children who have turned 3 to 5 years old by September 1st of that year, regardless of whether they are in a formal preschool or kindergarten program. (The nursery is offered for babies up to 2 years old during the 9:30 and 11:30 AM masses. The Liturgy of the Word for Children is held at the 9:30 AM Sunday Mass for children in Kindergarten and First Grade. The Wednesday evening faith formation begins with those in first grade.)

Program Schedule:
The Sunday School Program runs from October through April, 9:15-10:30 AM and 11:15-12:30 AM, in the elementary school building of our campus. We offer Sunday School most weekends of the month, taking off for all major holidays including such occasions as MEA and Spring Breaks. Please reference our calendar for our specific class schedule:

Program Curriculum:
Our program curriculum, Sharing God’s Story by Harcourt , was selected to stimulate the imagination of our children and introduce them to our wonderful Catholic tradition. It is centered around bible stories from both the Old and New Testament which are solidified by activities, crafts, games and music each class. Incorporated into the lessons are prayer, a focus on the sacraments, special activities and seasonal celebrations. It is a wonderful experience for young children to learn about our faith and continue to build the strong foundation which parents are laying at home.

Program Volunteers:
Our program relies upon on our volunteers to provide the best quality programming possible for our parish children. We work together to ensure that the curriculum is solid, the children are safe and program costs remain as low as possible. We have need for volunteers in several facets of operation and so there is an opportunity for all families to participate in some form throughout the year. Please consider how your family can serve and return the ministry form to our parish office: 2011 - 2012 Forms are available on the OLG website (www.olgparish.org).

Program Registration:  2011 - 2012 Forms are available ion the OLG website (www.olgparish.org).

Liturgy of the Word for Children

The 9:30 AM Sunday Mass offers the children in Kindergarten and first grade the opportunity to explore the liturgical readings of the day through song, listening to the Word, discussion and prayer.  The children are dismissed from the church after the Opening Prayer, go to a nearby room for their celebration of the Word, and return to their families at the Presentation of the Gifts.  No registration is needed, and all kindergartners and first-graders are welcome.   For additional information contact Stephanie Lloyd at
