A Letter From the Pastor: An Adoration Chapel Update

Good Parishioners

Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church receives countless blessings through and at the Most Holy Trinity Adoration Chapel and has a number of years. I am certain that our Adoration Chapel, this place of prayer, this home to so many, has been and remains an incredible source of Grace for Our Parish and Community.

We call Adoration Chapel a Perpetual Adoration Chapel:  24 –  7 – 365. We strive to have someone around the clock before the Blessed Sacrament in our Chapel in prayer, worship, adoration, and petition. However, for most of the time since our Chapel was established, our parish has struggled to find enough parishioners to “perpetually” cover the hours, especially between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., as well as most of the weekend hours.

A month ago Father Neil Baker and I met with members of our community who spend an hour weekly at the Adoration Chapel. In our conversation we decided to adjust our open hours. We made the decision that starting this weekend our Chapel will have Adoration from the hours of 5 a.m. to 11 p.m. on weekdays. During the weekend we will not have scheduled adoration. Exposition will restart on Monday mornings at 5:00 am.

This change will give the Parish time to re-established a stronger Adoration Chapel Committee and to assess how to best build a complement of Parishioner Adorers. I pray that soon we will have a chapel open 24/7/365.

You may have also noticed that the furniture in the Adoration Chapel has been rearranged. We also have placed a temporary Tabernacle in the Chapel. Some Parishioners are designing a permament tabernacle, which will be installed sometime this winter. During the night and on weekends the Blessed Sacrament will be secured in the Tabernacle.

Of course the Chapel as well as the Church are open daily from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm.  And these beautiful places invite our quiet worship, reflection and intercessory prayer.

I am grateful for the tremendous service of Mary Elder who faithfully over saw our Chapel.   Katie Tlougan has stepped forward to serve as Chair of the Adoration Chapel Team. If you would like to cover a regular hour or assist in someway, please contact the OLG Adoration Chapel committee at olgadorationchapel@gmail.com.

In Christ,
