For nearly forty years, Jim ran his own successful CPA and tax practice where he helped hundreds of individuals and small businesses with their financial needs. Jim's true passion, in life, was baseball at all levels. He played baseball in high school and coached teams from Little League to High School in Edina. He pioneered the travel baseball movement taking Edina teams to several states in the 1970s. He coached over one thousand games and 600 different players during a 40 year coaching career. He served on the Board of the Edina Baseball Association for many years including as president. He helped initiate and organize the inaugural Edina Baseball Tournament that still runs today. For many years, he was the Director of the South Hennepin American Legion program and was inducted into the Minnesota American Legion Hall of Fame in 2015. Jim or "Big Jim" as he was known, was a man of integrity who cared deeply for all members of his family. He was always present for family events and took great pride in the accomplishments of others. Also, he never forgot the often overlooked people in his midst. Whether a janitor, a waitress, or baseball groundskeeper, Big Jim was quick with a smile, thank you, or a generous tip. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Edina Baseball Association.
