Register for 22-23 High School Youth Ministry! (by Nov. 15)

Hello, we are so grateful that you are interested in getting involved with High School Youth Ministry! Here at OLG, we believe in meeting our teens where they are at while providing opportunities to encounter Jesus. We try to achieve this in a number of different ways…

In addition to HS Life Nights, which take place on Wednesdays from 7:30-9:00PM (in our Frassati Room), we also seek to advertise various Archdiocesan events, prayer opportunities, service projects and so much more. You can learn more about HS Youth Ministry on our page!

We invite you to register your child (or yourself) for High School Youth Ministry, but please know, in registering, this does not require attendance at every event. Registering is a way to get connected!

Questions? Email Jeremy Bodenschatz, Director of High School Youth Ministry.

Please REGISTER by Nov. 15th 2022 @ 5:00PM

How can our Blessed Mother have a face scarred? Sounds like heresy, yet here we see our Mother scarred. What does this mean about how God loves us? How does this image inform us about the compassion of Christ expressed through our Blessed Mother for us? Incredibly God loves us even scarred. And when honest with ourselves we realize we each carry scars not simply in our flesh but in our hearts and souls. Come hear about incredible love of God for us as expressed in this image of our Our Lady of Czestochowa, the Black Madana,  dating back perhaps 2,000 years.

Father Kevin Finnegan will share about Our Lady with a scarred face and how it she tenderly loves us. With a copy of this icon dating back from the late 1800’s Father Kevin will invites us to embrace more fully a life of boldness, compassion, and love.

Yes pizza and ice cream. But more: Engaging conversation on our scars transformed by grace.

Even Jesus has scars.

LifeNight - shhhh....

Each of the four sessions of Into the Deep will cover a specific topic found within the United States Bishops’ framework with a greater depth. This will allow us to take time to really break open topics such as discipleship, Mary, the season of Lent, and pro-life issues. This Into the Deep explores the season of Lent.

As Catholics, we are familiar with ashes, giving something up, and meatless Fridays, but do we know the “why” behind these things? This series on Lent will help us all understand the history, beauty, and opportunity of this season. Each session looks at a different aspect of how we are called to prepare for Easter: fasting, almsgiving, and prayer.

This session will wrap up the series on Lent. This final session will explore the third pillar of Lent: prayer (specifically contemplation). This will help us understand the importance of silence and meditation when seeking to deepen their relationship with God.

The goal of this session is to help us to understand the history and purpose of almsgiving, particularly within the season of Lent. This session will also look at why tithing and service (as an act of prayer and charity) is so important – even for teenagers.

LifeNight - Why so fast?

Each of the four sessions of Into the Deep will cover a specific topic found within the United States Bishops’ framework with a greater depth. The goal of this session is to help us all to understand the purpose of fasting. In particular, this night will help us move beyond just giving something up during Lent into truly detaching from the things that are keeping them from God. Finally, this session will serve as a preparation for the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
