Receive the Holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained.
— John 20:22-23

God created and loved us, giving us body, soul and, ultimately, by giving His Son, Jesus. Jesus repeats the action of our creator when he breathes into us the Holy Spirit. In doing so, he commissions us for the work of the new creation that consists of the difficult and delicate work of reconciliation, the labor of pardon. Forgiveness recreates the world according to God’s design. Therefore we must be the dispensers of reconciliation and pardon in our families and communities, otherwise we aredenying the grace we received at Baptism. Pray this week for the desire to be reconciled with God and those around you and to respond with a disciple’s finest confession of faith, “My Lord and my God!”
