Paul Anthony Sweetser was born on October 11, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, at St. Mary's Hospital. He passed away peacefully on April 26, 2026, in hospice at Fairview Ridges Hospital. Paul lived a full and varied life, beginning in Edina, attended Our Lady of Grace School and Church, Benilde High School, then enlisted in the Navy.
Paul struggled with mental health issues throughout much of his life, but never lost his Catholic faith nor the love for his family. Paul was a gifted musician and played much of his music by ear. He lived his last several years at Prosper Home, to whom we are forever grateful for their care and love for Paul. He was a generous and lively person who will be sorely missed. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Amelia (Amy) Sweetser, and his nephew Benjamin Jansen.
He is survived by his siblings Ted (Jane), Amy, Mary, Jeff (Janet), Phil (Mary Ellen), Christine (Steve), Sara (Ken) and Jenny, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, May 5, at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 5071 Eden Avenue, Edina, MN. Visitation 10:00 a.m., followed by Mass at 11:00 a.m. Lunch will follow the service at the church, with burial at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights after lunch.
