Ashley Garvin Funeral

Ashley, age 21, passed away on May 18, 2024. Ashley was a graduate of Edina High School in 2021. She recently attended a transition program at South Education Center and enjoyed going to school. She loved music, riding her bike, going in her swing, and spending time at her family cabin up north. She had the most beautiful smile and the most infectious laugh, and she loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends. She brought so much joy to our lives and was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Preceded in death by, Papa Dave Garvin. Survived by; mother, Jenny Garvin; father, Mike Garvin; siblings, Izzy, Abby, and Nolan Garvin; grandparents, Judy Garvin and Kathy and Tom Miller; best friend and lifetime caregiver, Pam Freer; aunt & uncle, Kelly and Robb Miller; cousins, Caitlin and Tommy Miller; aunt, Trish Garvin; cousins, Ryan and Alexandra Mielke; uncles, Guy Garvin and Chris Garvin and many other family members, caregivers, and friends.

Visitation at 9:30 AM, prior to the Funeral Mass. The family encourages you to wear bright colors to the service in honor of Ashley.

Memorials preferred to Gillette Children's Hospital Foundation.

Chuck Plain Funeral

Chuck was amazingly optimistic in every aspect of his life. He always had words of encouragement to share and a warm smile.  Chuck loved tennis, golfing with his cronies, traveling, spending time with his family and more recently trying his hand at pickleball with his partner, Helen. He truly enjoyed living his life to the fullest every day with Helen by his side. 

He is survived by his son, Lincoln; grandson, Zachary; his partner of five years, Helen Bevan; along with her children and grandchildren with whom were family to him; brother, Urban; brother-in-law, Craig Schultz; and cousin, Jackie (Tom) Lutmer and their daughters.  He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 54 years, Pamela (nee: Schultz) and sister-in-law, Deborah Schultz. 

Visitation will be one hour prior to Mass at OLG. A private inurnment will be at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Cemetery. 

Cathryn Balek Funeral

Cathryn M. Balek, age 102 of Edina, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024.

Preceded in death by husbands, James Haley, and Walter Balek, and sister Margaret Tupac. Survived by son Dennis (Jantze) Haley, grandchildren Michelle (Eric) Hudson, and Nik (Valerie) Larsen, great-grandchildren Emerson, Austen, Joseph, Lucia and Weston.

Cathryn was proud of her Iron Range and Italian heritage as well as being a Public Health Nurse for the city of Minneapolis. She was a crossword puzzle enthusiast, and tennis player, she loved to read cookbooks and was known for her sense of fashion. She was a long-time active member and volunteer at Our Lady of Grace Parish. Above all, she was a loving, devoted and generous wife, mother and grandmother. She will be deeply missed.

Visitation one hour prior to Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hennepin Healthcare Foundation.
