Here at OLG our  High School Youth Ministry (anyone who has been confirmed in 8th-12th grade) is meant to engage young people where they are at in their journey to respond to the ultimate call of all of our lives: the call to be an intentional disciple of God.

In all of our ministries we bring the Gospel to young people by the art of living well - and it begins and ends with Christ. There are so many places here at OLG for everyone to get involved in order to share their gifts.  Contact us today to see where God is calling you!

Greetings everyone!

Here is our Wrap-up from last night! Can't wait to see you next week for "Shhhhhhh..." at 7:30PM in the Dining Room!

The goal of  last night was to understand the history and purpose of almsgiving, particularly within the season of Lent. This session will also look at why tithing and service (as an act of prayer and charity) is so important.

  • Almsgiving is an important practice during Lent. It calls us to share our money and possessions with those in need. It also reminds us that what we have is a gift from God.
  • Beyond just giving money, we are also called to do works of mercy to serve our brothers and sisters in need.
  • Jesus asks us to be “poor in spirit.” This kind of poverty and humility is vital to our spiritual growth.

Weekly Challenge
Every Lent, CRS sponsors the “Rice Bowl Project.” People are given small boxes to collect change that will be donated to feed the hungry in the countries where CRS serves. On the table in the commons is the Rice Bowl boxes and challenge them to go beyond just gathering spare change. The challenge for this week is to give up something you would typically spend money on (Starbucks, movies, clothes, etc.) and donate the money instead. Bring back the filled Rice Bowl boxes to the next session.

Thank you everyone who was able to make it last night! We were able to pack a TON of Blessings Bags and start a bunch for others to finish!

Don't forget! Next week is our Mardi Gras Party - we are going to have Pizza, Games, and Prayer! See you in-person at 7:30PM in the Dining Room!

The goal of last night was to educate us all on the issues of poverty and homelessness within our communities, while broadening our perspective on the dignity and place of the poor.
  • It may only take a moment for someone to fall into the cycle of poverty, but it also only takes us a moment, a shared moment, to remind them of their dignity.
  • An “I-it” relationship is what we create when we are in transactions with people whom we treat like objects. I-you relationships are characterized by human connection; treating people as people.
  • Jesus prefers the poor because He is modeling how much we should rely on Him. By encountering the poor, we all have a unique opportunity to also encounter our own poverty and need for a Savior.

Last night was ABSOLUTLY wonderful! Thank you so much for an open and honest discussion about how God is calling us all to welcome the "stranger" in our midst. Talking with all of you reminded me about how big each of your hearts is!  Next week is our FINAL installment of our LifeNight Series. The last one is called One Moment - The goal of One Moment is to educate us all on the issues of poverty and homelessness within our communities, while broadening our perspective on the dignity and place of the poor.

Last night we said this prayer before adoration AND my challenge for all of us is to say this each day this week!

Pilgrimage Prayer

Lord, You who called Your servant Abraham

out of the town of Ur and who watched over

him during all his wanderings; You who guided

the Jewish people through the desert in their

journey to the Promised Land; You who guided

the Holy Family on their passage to Egypt; we

beseech You to watch over Your children.

Be for us,

a companion on our journey

the guide on our intersections

the strengthening during fatigue

the fortress in danger

the resource on our itinerary

the shadow in our heat

the light in our darkness

the consolation during dejection

and the power of our intention.

We ask this through Christ our Lord, Amen.

Thanks to all for joining us with our quick adjustment to Online last night! Just a remider that next week we should be able to resume in-person. If that changes we will let you know ASAP. ALSO - if online works better for your schedule PLEASE register here! Our Online LifeNights are the next day (Thursday) from 7:30 - 8:30PM.
The goal of our LifeNight last night - titled "Dangerous" - was for us all to understand holiness as being set apart for God and dangerous to the status quo because it challenges mediocrity and inspires extraordinary living.
  • When we live in the love of God and reject worldly substitutes and counterfeits of love, we begin our journey of becoming holy.
  • Holiness means to be set apart for God. It is dangerous to the status quo because the presence of holy people challenges mediocrity and inspires extraordinary living.
  • St. Stephen’s holiness and witness to Christ challenged the status quo. Because of this, he was persecuted and killed. We are called to withstand persecution through testimony sharing and remaining faithful in prayer.

Our challenge last night was to come up with our OWN testimony. HERE is a super helpful resource to begin working on your testimony. REMEMBER! If  you need help our want someone to hear your testimony - that's what the Core Team and I are here for!

I have also included some more resources below if you are interested :)

The goal of our LifeNight last night was to discuss love from a Trinitarian perspective and bring awareness to the many counterfeits of love that we experience in our day-to-day lives. The Life Night builds hope of being loved and loving others in an extraordinary way. Our discussion questions last night lead to great small group conversations! Check them out below -
  • Do you love anyone with agape type love? Who?
  • Have you ever experienced the presence of Christ in prayer? When?
  • Have you ever experienced agape love? From who? How?
  • How can the different types of loves work together in a relationship? How can you see them working together in your relationships?
  • How can you live your life integrating agape type love? Prayer? Disinterested friendships? Intentional dating?
As with all OLG events we follow CDC, State, and Archdiocesan guidelines for health and safety. This event will be outside. In the case of bad weather we will reschedule.

Greetings all!

Despite the fact that the whole Frassati Room/school/church smelled like burned popcorn and Lysol we had a blast on Wednesday! At  LifeNight we were blessed to get to hear from Tyler! It was such a great blessing getting to hear about his faith and life! Then we really dove into Ash Wednesday - what it means for us, and the importance of fasting. We then got into discussion groups to really dive into what God is calling up to this upcoming Lent.
We finished everything off with Praise and Worship in the Church.

God bless and don't forget! Ash Wednesday is next week, so NO LifeNight!
Check this video out! Tears each time!
This made me FOR SURE plan my day out, so I can fast like a champ!

Greetings all!

Last night at LifeNight we had a great night talking about our faith and what it means to live it out in a world that can be hard on Christians.

"St. Paul, in the letter to the Hebrews, calls us to be "people of whom the world is not worthy of." What does this mean? What does it mean to be authentically Catholic - and authentically YOU - for a woman living in the modern world? This talk shared powerful insights and personal stories to inspire you to have the courage to embrace who God intends for you to be."
Check out the video we watched last night!
