Greetings everyone!

Last night we watched two short videos to start out the month of October. Westarted out with the video from Dr. Edward Sri where he poses the question for reflection: “What would you want to be said about you at your funeral? For what do you want to be remembered most?” We followed that up with a video from Joseph Pearce who discusses why stories are important using The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings to explain. We then broke into groups to talk about our answers and what we thought about the importance of stories.

During prayer we were all challenged to reflect on what they want their story to be like. Is it going to be an epic novel ooooor a dud? They get to choose they life that God has planned for them that is sure to be a THE most epic novel ever written.

Thank you all for coming and we can't wait to see you all next week! We are going to be having a LifeNight GAME Night! ANNNNND save room for Pizza, because we are ABSOLUTELY going to order some! Finnnnlllly  don't forget that we have open Frassati Room starting at 4:30PM!

Greetings everyone!

Our LifeNight kick- off was amazing! It was so much fun getting to hang out with all of you, play Wubble Volleyball, and especially get to pray with you.

Kory gave a GREAT opening talk for the year year and here are TWO things we want you to remember from it.

  1. Remember  Ted Leonosis?  He was the executive that got in a plane crash and lived. He said, “I don’t want to be a passive observer of my own life.”We all want this. We don’t want to waste our lives, and if we want this – more importantly – if we believe this – it means that our decisions and our actions matter.
  2. The "American dream" tells us that if we do what we want, if we become who we want to be, then we will be happy Jesus says something different.
    1. Matthew 10:39 - Whoever finds their life will lose it, and whoever loses their life for my sake will find it."
    2. Matthew 26:24 - “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and and follow me."
But follow him where? To the Father. This was Jesus’ whole mission – to bring people back to the heart of God, to the heart of the Father

Thanks so much for coming and we can't WAIT to see you next week! We are going to start with a fun game and some great snacks! Thennn we are going to explore the question Jesus asks his disciples: Who do you say that I am? annnnd are going to do a close reading of St. Peter’s confession of faith that Jesus is the “Christ, the Son of the Living God” (Mt 16:16).  annnnnd don't forget that we have open Frassati Room starting at 4:30PM

Greetings everyone!

Last night we discussed what it means to become a Saint!

We started off with doing Lectio Divino on the Parable of the Sower, and then went right to business with a video from Father Mike Schmidt. Father Mike said" God wants you to be holy, so he is going to set you on a path of purification if you choose to do his will. He is the one who is going to make you holy. This process is going to strip away many things you hold dear. It’s going to require active participation in his will, doing what is right and good. But it’s also going to require passive acceptance of things that are out of your control. See everything you do and experience as a chance to grow in holiness, and God will make you into a saint." See his whole video below, AND check out our discussion questions from last night too!

God bless and see you for our FINAL LifeNight of the year NEXT Wednesday!

Greetings everyone!

Last night it was great getting to pray with you, play games with you, and have a great discussion about the Mass.

We discussed how in everything we do in life, it is essential to understand the goal or purpose, if we want to participate in a fruitful manner. In the Catholic Mass, the goal of our worship is quite clearly directed at the praise of God and the sanctification of the world. In fact, the Church puts these very words on the lips of her ministers and faithful at every celebration of the Eucharist. Check out our discussion questions below AND the great picture Lauren drew of Sofia.

God bless and see you all next Wednesday!

Greetings everyone!

Last night was a BLAST! Getting to play a ton of games, great conversation, and AMAZING prayer time!

Our topic last night was all about how the Catholic Mass is full of signs and symbols. Where do these signs come from? Where do they get their meaning? The Church teaches that the meaning comes from four categories: creation, human culture, the Old Testament and they are fully revealed in the mission of Christ narrated for us in the New Testament. The sacramental system depends on signs that are perceptible. Every created thing has the impression of God, the Divine Artisan.

Part of our night included meditating and disscusing the below questions

1. In what ways are created things used in the Mass?
2. What events or images from the Sacred Scriptures can you recognize in the celebration of the Mass?
3. What are some of the signs in the liturgy that you would like to better understand? How do the words the Church uses manifest the meaning of these signs?

God bless and see you all soon! Veronica

“In his preaching the Lord Jesus often makes use of the signs of creation to make known the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. He performs healings and illustrates his preaching with physical signs or symbolic gestures. He gives new meaning to the deeds and signs of the Old Covenant, above all to the Exodus and the Passover, for he himself is the meaning of all these signs.” CCC, n°. 1151“In his preaching the Lord Jesus often makes use of the signs of creation to make known the mysteries of the Kingdom of God. Hey all! It was great getting to see you all yesterday! After all of the snow, spring breaks, and just life- it felt like it had been forever!

Afterwards we watched a video on the importance of our Church building. How it is meant to be MORE than just a building. That led to some AMAZING conversation about what a church is, marriage, vocation, and a bunch of other stuff. It was awesome!

Don't forget that next week we DON'T have a LifeNight! It is the Day of Mercy! Make sure that you celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation!

God bless and see you all soon! Veronica

The Catholic Church is a sacramental Church which means deeper realities are expressed in perceptible signs. The church building is not a neutral place; it is not simply a skin for liturgical action. It is a place where prayer happens; it is a temple where sacrifice is offered.

The building is a sacramental sign: there is found the Body of Christ. The door signifies the crossing of the threshold and entry into the Garden of Eden. It is return to Paradise.
