LifeNight: November 29th

Greetings all!

Hope that your Thanksgiving was a great one, and that you got enough pie to eat!

Last night at LifeNight we decorated the Youth Room for Christmas! I (Veronica) was sick that night, BUT no worries! Ian and the youth had a TON of fun!

AND YES! The Youth Room looks amazing! Lights, wreaths, and mangers make the whole space a Christmas wonderland!

Just as we have been getting the Youth Room ready for this Christmas Season- let's not forget about getting OURSELVES ready for Christmas! This Sunday don't forget to visit the Faith Formation Advent table in the Commons;  I invite you to pick an item from the table that will help you to reflect during this coming Advent time of waiting and expectation.

In particular I invite you as a family to get an Advent Wreath for your home! (These are available at the table as well) Last night Ian led the youth in a prayer with the"Youth Room Advent Wreath". This is a great way to pray each week as a family, and we are going to praying this each week with the Youth too!

God bless!
Veronica Whelan

LifeNight: November 15th

In last night's LifeNight we did a "Gratitude Scavenger Hunt" where we ran around the building finding different things that we are grateful for. It was HILARIOUS. I still have stuff in the youth room that I am not sure where it came from.

As we are heading into Thanksgiving week we wanted to think and pray about what it means to be thankful in our lives. SOOOOOOO we watched a Youtube video by Father Mike Schmitz called "Thanksgiving Special: Squanto". Do you know the story of Squanto? It could be seen as a prime example of a life filled with one tragedy after another. But in this special Thanksgiving video, Fr. Mike offers a different perspective by showing how blessings can be found in even the most dismal situations. By realizing this truth in our own lives, we may learn to find God in the most unlikely places. Check it out!

We ended our evening with the prayer of gratitude- found below- in the Adoration Chapel. I invite you to pray this as well to prepare your own heart for Thanksgiving this week.

God bless, and have a great Thanksgiving!

Unleashed

This Unleashed series calls us to engage our critical thinking without being spoon-fed the answers. Each discussion puts the topic-as-hand within the framework of Catholic teaching, but gives us a chance to own our conclusions and ultimately, allows us to give a "defense" of the Truth in our world. Or, as the Apostle Paul stated: "Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are now to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ" (Ephesians 4:15).

So join us on THursdays from 7:00 - 8:30 PM in the Youth Room! You can even come early for open Youth Room from 6:00 - 7:00 PM
