PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND YOUTH

OPCY Reorganization Update

First, we thank all who helped spread the word about the changes underway in the Office for Protection of Children and Youth (OPCY) and the opportunities to join the OPCY team. Candidate applications for our new Safe Environment Coordinator positions are being reviewed now to determine which applicants will move on to the interview stage of the hiring process. We are aiming for an October start date.

Second, we wanted to let you know that Mary Kane will be leaving her position as Director of OPCY. She was offered, but declined to serve in one of the new Coordinator positions, but has generously agreed to stay on through the end of the calendar year to help with the reorganization of OPCY. Mary will also be assisting with both upcoming audits: the September external audit and the October USCCB audit. We are most grateful for her decades of service to our local Church and for her steadfast commitment to child protection.
